The Female Factor - In Sweden, the Men Can Have It All

“From trendy central Stockholm to this village in the rugged forest south of the Arctic Circle, 85 percent of Swedish fathers take parental leave. Those who don’t face questions from family, friends and colleagues. As other countries still tinker with maternity leave and women’s rights, Sweden may be a glimpse of the future.”

This is a great idea/article. Not only does such a system benefit women, but men as well. Flexibility when it comes to work hours? I’m all for it. Men being a bigger part of their kid’s lives? For it.

“Society is a mirror of the family,” Mr. Westerberg said. “The only way to achieve equality in society is to achieve equality in the home. Getting fathers to share the parental leave is an essential part of that.”<—-love.

Hillary Clinton & Women's Rights

As a feminist, I read the blog jezebel.com everyday. Not every link of course, I pick and choose, usually skipping over the celebrity pictures unless Hugh Jackman or some such leading man is shown. The blog and followers can be a bit too overzealous or passionate in their opinions, but they strive to educate others on issues that are often overlooked and empower women, which I appreciate.
